Well I recently ordered a new USB flash drive last week and it should be in today. I got the CORSAIR 1GB Flash Drive. It's my first one and plan on using it for password management using KeePass and I'll probably throw some other usefull programs on like Firefox and Thunderbird portable.

I may even play around with installing **** Small Linux

I'm curiuos, who else owns a flash drive and what do you use yours for?

I have a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 512mb. I really like it. I find I use it a lot when people come over with laptops, or at a cafe where setting up networking just takes too long. It's good for files too big to email. I also load it up with mp3 files and plug it in at the computer at work. Makes a nice keychain too.

I have a flash drive. Pretty much I use it to move files back and fourth between home and school.

I use my 1gb to transfer files to and from work etc.. i use it to store 'drivers' and mini programs so i can take it computer to computer as i'm lazy and can't be bothered using cd's.. lol

but recently, i have to be honnest, i havn't used it as much as i usually do, i'm starting to find it pretty useless, well it's ok on an odd ocassion but lately i've been storing stuff on my usb hdd (250gb ) i only sometimes move this as at the mo it's connected to my computer on a wireless network allowing me to have access to everything where ever, i have also been using netmeeting to remote control my homepc from work so i havn't really needed to use it as much. I have a site called www.rhyswork.com where i can upload documents and other files which i can then access at home or in work so i havn't needed the olde stick.

Is anybody else finding that they are using their memory stick less than they usually do?

Yes. In fact, your story sounds a lot like mine other than uploading files to a website. I got my USB drives (128MB and 512MB) primarily as a large capacity sneakernet. I'd copy files from one computer to the flash drive, copy them to a second computer, and delete them from the flash drive.

Then I got a 40GB USB hard drive. I used the flash drives only occassionally until I put a 120GB HD in a USB case. (I was going to put it in a Win98 machine and jujst never did.) I'm pretty sure the flash drives are in my bag but I'd have to double check to make sure.
