I have been using 2007 now for a while.. it's a big improvments, and the best thing is that you can produce amazing documents, presentations, databases, at very high and professional quality just by pressing a button... it's really impressive, if anybody wants any screenshots then let me know as i'll be more than happy to post some

If you don't like a product, then don't use it. Simple as that
I find it amusing that you're spouting all this anti-MS garbage and you're useragent says you are using Microsoft Windows. A bit hypocritical, don't you think?

I think I might try the beta. I've been using 2003 for quite some time because Microsoft gave it to me free when I attended a MS Partners seminar. I've read about 2007 and seen the screen shots. I've been using Office since the '95 version so I have to play with it to see if I'm going to like the drastic changes I've seen coming in this one. I have thought that some of the changes they have made to improve previous versions to make it easier and more intuitive were actually annoying, but maybe thses will be better.

Okay, I've downloaded the beta and I have to say it is quite a change.
As a certified expert user of Word, Excel & Outlook 2003 it will take some practice before I would be able to pass the exams for 2007. Yeah, I know I have time since it's not a full release yet. But I think a lot of people who use Office on a daily basis and are familiar with the menu layout are going to be unhappy with the drastic changes MS has made with this version.
One thing I was concerned about as I have been reading previews/reviews and gazing at screen shots was if they were going to change the keyboard shortcuts because I type close to 100 words/minute and if they change the shortcuts it would drastically effect my productivity. I am extremely thrilled to discover that all of the shortcuts still work, although now a box pops up that tells you to continue typing your 2003 shortcut to execute it (i.e. alt e, s is "paste special" in 2007 as soon as you type alt e the box pops up).
I will have to play with it some more to get used to the changes.

I'm running XP also. I'm not having a problem opening any PowerPoint files, I was having a problem with Outlook crashing everytime I tried to open a new email. It seems that this version doesn't play well with Adobe Acrobat professional. The MS white sheet said to update Acrobat. When that didn't work I un-installed Acrobat pro leaving only Acrobat reader 7 and now it seems fine.
Edit: Nope, Outlook doesn't like Reader anymore than it did Acrobat Pro. I may have to rollback Outlook because every time I try to open an email it crashes. I'm going to try uninstalling & reinstalling reader before I resort to that though.

Well, I've given it 7 weeks to grow on me, but it hasn't. I like the changes in Outlook, but I find the ribbons in Word & Excel extremely annoying. They regrouped commands and completely buried some. If you try to use a keyboard shorcut (like alt i, r for inserting a row in excel) that stupid box comes up telling you to keep typing to use the shortcut.
I think I will be rolling back to Office 2003 this weekend and staying with it.

I really like the new ribbons. Then again, I never used any of those programs extensively so it wasn't much of a chore to "re-learn" how to use them. I can understand your frustrations when they change the way you've been doing something for years.
