Hi there,

I'm having this weird FTP problem where I can't download large files (over say 5-10 MB). I've tried three different FTP programs and they all have the same problem. They get around 99-100% but then they time out.

I'm using XP 64-bit edition and the problem has only just happened.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Does this happen when you try downloading one at a time? You might find luck using a FTP program that can que downloads so that if a connection is lost or times out, it will reconnect and coninue where it left off.

One at a time. It's usually 1 large file, not a series of small ones.

Adam does your connection to the server time out or just the download? You should be able to set the FTP program to keep the connection open longer though I wouldn't think it would be necessary.

I know many servers are set to break the connection when you're not actively doing anything. You'd think that downloading something would still be active, but maybe it's not.

Which FTP programs have you tried? If I'm familiar with any I might know where to change those timeout settings.

Any luck with this yet? Sometimes I noticed success/failure changes depending on if I have passive mode on/off

The download itself. It times out right at the very end.

Gonna check the passive mode thing in AceFTP and SmartFTP although I don't think that's it. Thanks.
