I am seriously considering getting a macbook pro I would get low end but with 1gig of ram and the applecare protection, but at $2,300 (with student discount) after tax it is making me very sceptical. Is the mbp really worth a desktop($1k) and a pc laptop($1300) that I could get? I don't want to shell out $2,300 for this laptop if it's not going to melt my face (not literally)

I know a few people who got the MBP and all are extremely happy with it. It's really not that much more expensive then a similar PC laptop you can get with similar specs.

I'm considering getting one, too, but I'm leaning towards waiting for the next generation to come out. It shouldn't be too long of a wait, and 2nd gen apple products are usually better then the first (don't have the bugs).

So I'd say: get it if you can't wait and wait if you can Since the MBP can run Bootcamp, you can also use it to run Windows anyway. So this makes it an excellent choice either way IMO.

It depends on what you are going to use it for. Think about what programs you are going to need.
I personally am a Mac user, and am addicted (like so many others). I would go for the Mac if you have the money. I think you will save money in the long run. Tell us when you buy, and what you buy, so we aren't kept in suspense our entire lives, please?
