Hi

So i got a miniDV camcorder the other day and i took it on a trip i went on and got some pretty good footage. So the capturing software to put it onto my PC just takes it as one long video (as apposed to the individual 'takes') which is fair enough. But i would like all the individual bits as separate avi or mpg files so i can edit them all together easier.

This can be done by stopping the capture between shots but is very inaccurate and time consuming so does anyone know any software or techniques i can use to select a split point and then have it make it into a new video file?

Hope this is clear, let me know if my explaination is pants!

I think you would be more happy with the traditional style of creating a batch list of in/out points used for batch capturing in programs like FinalCut and Premiere. Although these programs costs $$.

Hey

Sorry for not replying... I tried all the programs that you [OmuCuSucu] suggested but they didnt seem to allow me to choose multiple points just one or they just split the file by a certain number (i.e. split this file into 7 bits).

I did however get hold of the trial of ULead which did what i wanted but it seemed to only allow the program to auto-detect the scene changes which wasnt always accurate.

I also got the trial of adobe premiere which looked like it would do it straight from Capture from the camera which was great, but it wouldnt register my camera ( )

I decided to just split it within the editing program (i was using SOny Vegas) which just makes different 'sections' of video rather entire new files. It just means that things get a little more confusing with the entire video (18 mins) on the timeline at once rather than being able to add things in as i please.

Thanks for the help everyone.
