Iv'e used it, I didn't like it at all. They lost the linux feel by trying to make a linux for windows users. You miight as well try it though, Just boot it from disk.
I would reccomend trying kanotix too.
I always choose SimplyMepis if I need a simple distribution. It works great and out of the box.
If you need "linux that runs windows apps", then try to install wine. It's pretty mature now and is able to run quite a few Windows Apps, but not all of them. Linspire is using wine too.
Wine is a common application which can be used in any Linux distros. Actually there are many Linux distros available. These are specially designed to make life simple for those Linux users who have switched over from Windows.
