Anyone here still on dial up?

I'm luckily not. I haven't used dial up in about 2 months, but that's because I was at a friend's house. Nowadays a weak WiFi signal resembles dial up to me .
But seriously, I don't know how anyone who's online more than 2 hours a day, can stand using dial up. And now, more web pages have heavier graphics, which take a while to load on dial up sometimes. Before, a 20KB some are even 2-5MB, which would take about 15-30 minutes on dialup to load, if I'm not mistaken, or even more perhaps.

I can't imagine going back to dial up!! I've had cable for 3 years and dsl for 2 years before that. We had a huge storm in October that knocked out electricity for over 200K people....for me it knocked out my cable for 3 days and I thought I was going lose my mind. I felt guilty, knowing that lots of people were worse off than me, but I still missed my internet badly!

A little off topic but:

Every webmaster should have to surf every page on their site from a dialup connection.

It has been over 5 years and I would quit the internet before I went back to dialup.

I used to have dial-up about two years ago when I wasn't into surfing the net yet. But when I started to need the internet for researching and other school related work, we just had to get DSL. Now I can't live without fast internet.

I remember when i had dialup it took me a week to download **** small linux, The smallest Linux distro available. Now i can download kanotix in he time it takes me to make and drink a coffee.

Give it a couple of years and we will all be on 100mbps as standard.

Everyone used to have one. Over the last 6 months it's become unheard of. It's because now everyone is on the internet longer, I'm personally on 12-14 hours a day on weekends, everyones playing games online, people are downloading videos and want their porn faster. =/

I switched to a broadband connection about 5 or 6 years ago, and I've never looked back. Now when I'm at home, I'm on a Comcast cable connection. At school, I'm on their T3-based network, which is nice. At work (I work in government), we have an insanely fast dedicated line from Verizon, but I'm not sure what it ranks at. It *might* be an OC line of some-sort.
