Which fan it the question. Usually when they start to make noise the bearings are going bad. Replacement is the only option.

Power supply fans can not be replaced. You replace the entire unit. Case fans are cheap to replace. Some heatsink and cpu fans are a combo unit.

So which fan is your problem?

Before you replace the fan try using a can of compressed air to spray into the fan. It may just need a good clean and is worth trying before purchasing a replacement.

Is this what your fan looks like?

Those are getting hard to find. The shipping on that site is crazy.

well, I've a nice solution. Mix graphite powder and lube oil and using a drip, pour in two-three drops of the mixture into the fan, after removing the sticker. This has worked wonders for me.. If you haven't understood this, I'll be clearer in my next post.

Could i suggest that because he cant identify his processor it might not be a god idea to be telling him to start putting liquids of any sort near his computer...

Ok is the fan in question in any way connected to the case? is it screwed to some sort of block which is clipped to the mother board?
Again, i would suggest a quick digi pic would do the trick...

Also if its a fan on the case u can get like rubber thingys which go between fan and case becasue sometimes they can vibrate and cause noise...

Hope this helps...

Is the fan that is making the noise, "apart of" or "integrated into the motherboard? Or is the fan on the side on the case?
