I have a CD I need to rip to add it to their website.
I haven't ripped CD for quite a few years. I can't remember the name of the free download pgm I used ...it was Win something
So, I have a couple of questions:

1. What software do you rip with? (hopefully free)

2. What is the best format to use on a web page? (smallest, best for sound, etc.)?

TIA!!

Mich,
Don't you use your CD player that is in the computer for ripping?

On my old computer I had a good one, but I'm now finding out that is one pgm i didn't backup or move to my new system. Darn.

What format is best for web pages? Is MP3 okay, or do you need some other one?

If you have Windows, use Windows Media Player. Format depends on the audience and web site. If it's audiophiles mp3 won't cut it. Normal people, that should be fine.

Windows Media Player rip's only wma (Windows Media Audio) format. I recomend dMC Audio CD and dMC converters. Great tools. IMHO mp3 is the best format for websites, also .ogg is not bad.
DotHQ i use my lappy's cd drive for ripping

Also, I forgot to add, that lowering the bitrate decreases quality a bit, but also decreases the size! I believe CDs usually output mp3s to 128, if you use the tool I recommended, or other ones that support bitrate change, you should lower it to 64 or 32, 64 recommended if bandwith is not a problem. a 6MB 128kbps mp3 would be only ~3mb with 64kbps.
