Hello,

Well as I hope you know scratch space is space on your hard drive that acts as memory. I'm pretty sure it is what is referred to as 'Virtual Memory'. Photoshop eats up a ton of this memory. And I can't create a new document because my scratch memory is full. So I closed Photoshop and most other applications and still my scratch space is full. How can I free up this space? I'm almost completely sure that a reboot would do the trick but I really don't want to (have a lot of apps running right now and it would be a pain to restart all of them).

What OS are you running ??

Photoshop may leave behind large temporary scratch files, so you need to go into the Adobe folder under "Documents and Settings" and delete anything that's there. My PSCS2 on WinXP pro sticks the temp files under "local settings\temp" under my profile.

You can also set your virtual memory to a specific size. I usually leave mine as (physical memory x 4). Don't let it go up or down...actually handle it yourself.
