Hey, I have looked all over the internet for the cheapest most simple way to get an Internet connection, wireless, to my laptop from my PC. I already have broadband for my PC if that helps? Can somebody please tell me the best thing to get that is simple and will get me wireless internet access and maybe some links and sources?

A dedicated wireless router would be better, and you can find cheap 54G on ebay, but if you want to make your pc do the job, here is a starter.
I consider that you are running windows.

First, you need to have 2 network cards in your pc. 1 for the external network (internet) and 1 for the internal network (your lan) and you will need to do nat between those 2.
Second, you can either use the "microsoft network connection sharing":

Or, if you have an old computer (even a pentium 1) with 256Mo of ram, and a cd (no need of an hard disk), you can use one of those linux router distro

I'm not talking about any price, but I'm sure that if you look a bit on the occasion market, you can find a wireless router that will do a pretty good job.

As for your laptop, yes, of course it will need a network card too.
It seemed so obvious that I didn't stated it.
Every pc/laptop/fridge that you want to connect on your network must have at least 1 network card.
Wireless or wired don't matter, as long as they all got ethernet connectivity.

And there is the router (in your case, your pc) that will need to have 2 interfaces. They can be 2 ethernet cards, 1 modem and 1 ethernet, 1 WAN port and 1 ethernet....

My sister bought a netgear wireless router for under $35. The router software does NAT w/o any additional software necessary. It also has a built-in firewall.

i think getting a simple bog standard wireless router is the best for you,

buy a router connect it

Broadband -> Router input -> wired out put to your PC
-> Connect your laptop to the wireless signal...

DONT FORGET TO SECURE IT! loads of people leave it as standard settings.

when i was down my nans someone has a complete open router, i could login to the admin panel becasue it was on the default password, it was the same as my home router, and anyway i could have done alsorts and really messed em up.. but im not like that... ... much...
