I know a lot of businesspeople that disagree with the way I'm doing things. A lot of people in my family do too - they'd rather work a safe, secure J.O.B. for a certain amount of money every month year in, year out.
Times are changing, and with global market fluctuations and influences like the Middle East that can wreak havok on industries here in the US, having all your eggs in one basket is risking your livlihood.
If you invested all your money in the stock market, would you put it all in ONE single stock? No.
I'm not saying split hairs and do too many things... You should only be working on a manageable number of projects at a time. It's not like you're working 3 or 4 jobs, they're all websites. Just like full time web developers don't just work on one project at a time... you have to multitask.
Once you get a couple done and running by themselves, you can go on and create more sites. Over time you can build a strong network of sites generating a nice bit of revenue.
