I am with Shpigford on this one! Everything he has said is correct and I think you would be wrong to start pinging sites for new content. rsstoblog allows people to do what you are after and in my eyes it is stealing content.

I can take an MSN RSS feed and put it on my blog so I can have news articles on my site. There is no stealing involved. SHpigford, if you read the first post and did not accuse atomm of being morally corrupt right off the bat, you could see that he wants to know how to syndicate RSS feeds. Do you get it now? If this was a problem, then why would WordPress even have an RSS import option? Why would bloggers ping RSS sites to get their content republished? I love it when a site uses my RSS feed to post the intro to one of my topics, then links back to my site for the rest of the story. Why is this concept so hard for you guys to understand? digg, technorati, slashdot... I could go on and on with sites that do this exact thing.....

I give up. I am really tired of people who focus on trying to tell me what I should be doing instead of trying to help me figure out the right way to do something. Even if I was mistaken and really doing something bad, I would be so turned off by the attacks I have received in this post that I wouldn't even listen if you were giving good advice.

Ok, let me restate it for those of you who didn't read the whole thread.

I would like to use RSS to offer additional resources for visitors to my site to find information about the subject in question. I DO NOT want to repost the whole article. The first paragraph and a link back to the original article would be just fine. In a lot of cases, I will probably even add my own content to the intro post on my site. Get it?

Trust me, if I wanted to be a Black Hat, I wouldn't be here arguing with you guys. I would simply move along to the Black Hat sites and stop dealing with unfounded accusations.

There's many spinner applications out there. It depends on what you want to do. Regardless, it's best to start with a base of COMPELLING original content, mix in some RSS spins/commented text, and a WIDE distribution

Atomm, seriously think about getting RSS2blog. Sure it can be used by scummy spammers, but so can email, doesn't mean you have to spam with it. It's excellent for reprinting articles, I use article miner with it and it churns out hundereds of articles for my blogs.

Before the jackbooted white hat mob starts to batter down my door, this is in keeping with the TOS of the author. As long as a link is given back and the article is not messed with it can be reprinted.

Also, check out Carp, this is a tool which you can do a lot of creative stuff. Like dropping the RSS feed into an sql database and sorting it in all sorts of ways. Mostly I just publish the headlines, which goes straight to the website it comes from.

Of course you could always get me to write another article before I become too expensive.
