Where can I write for money?

The question is simple: are there any sites that I can go to and write articles for money. Sort of like a bidding marketplace, where people need articles, and you just take the job, or something along those lines.
Thanks,
Josh

You might want to include a plan to build some of your own content over time too, so that you are not always only working for someone else.

A good one is http://www.scriptlance.com. They sometimes undercharge though.

Ok, thanks guys. I honestly have no clue as to how much I should charge. What are the going rates?

I can write about anything, everything, and even the stuff in between. I wrote an article for Blogger Skills, you can check that here.

I am a very quick learning and love doing research, therefore I can write on most any topic.

Perhaps you first should post some free articles on ezine.com or articlecity.com, so you can show some of your work to people.

Well me being a writer myself and I must say that we have a few of them here at Earners Forum, you need to be competitive. I am not trying to lose business at all but I am trying to help you out.

Start out small because you're obviously not going to get a lot of clients right away. What I'd do is create a portfolio of some of your work, therefore when a client asks to see some of your work -- you can show him\her. You can see in my signature that I have a long list of content I have souped up over the years.

Once you get a decent client base it will basically be a lot easier. They will update your trader rating and that helps a great bit!

As for going rates... You need you check out other writers prices. Underpricing might hurt you but overpricing would probably hurt you too. You also have to supply the work for what you charge so it's tough. I would definitely look into that though.

Get a portfolio first!

Hope this helps,

-JJ-

I believe http://www.constant-content.com/ has a feature where people can request custom articles and writers bid on the work. But I am not sure about that.

What kind of writing do you want to do? You might want to pick up a copy of the Writer's Marketplace at your local bookstore and start pitching ideas to magazines. Start with small markets (the ones that pay $30-50/article) then build up your portfolio and start pitching ideas to editors at larger magazines (like WIRED, which pays $1/word and features run around 5,000 words--plus they often pay expenses... not bad for one article ).

Building a portfolio certainly seems a basic thing to do.

There are so many content driven sites out there that there is plenty of demand - however, pricing is another thing, as many articles are low priced and often made for trying to keep some fresh content but not going into any great detail.

Top publishers paying per word will need past writing examples - and as suggested, you pitching ideas to them - so specialising can increase your fees as you would be regarded more of an expert provided you had the track record.
