Since I havn't been able to sell makingtheartist.com, I've decided that I'm going to try to get it going again.

And for this, I would like to write a press release that I'll send out to various industry people to inform them about mta.

But I'm not a good writer and my english grammar isn't perfect. So I would need to hire someone to write this for me.

If you're interested, or know of another place where I could post this, let me know. Thanks!

You should be able to find someone in the Services sub-forum at Digital Point.

Hi Emil,

Like to know, if you do not mind sharing, what's the rate that you have to pay for a press release.

I had someone quoted me for $100, thought I check around and find out what's a fair market price for a decent job.

Thanks.

Hey! I've only good things to say about the guy who wrote it for me. He finished it in about 48 hours and it's really good. I can post it here for you to read and judge. I also hired the same guy to write some content for my site and the result for that was as good as the press release.

Check this thread for information about he who wrote it for me: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showt...=press+release

Making The Artist Launches

City, State, Date – Making the Artist is proud to announce that after months of development, the web site is now finally live. The site is a new online networking tool that allows independent and/or unsigned musical artists to come together and promote their work.

The web site is free and allows users to upload audio and video content as well as add photos and a biography. Networking is the key to success so Making The Artist focuses on interaction between members and allows them to post comments on each other’s pages and communicate via e-mail or instant messenger. It is a perfect venue for individual artists to push their label and gain exposure to thousands of fans as well as those from the music industry.

Making the Artist will also feature a message board so that all members can communicate directly with each other, the fans, and those from the music industry. The key to success as a musical artist is promotion and exposure, and that is exactly what Making the Artist offers.

“The Internet is one of the most powerful tools that we have to interact with others from around the world and Making the Artist will always be about helping Artists get a fan base and hopefully become successful,” said website founder Emil Wagenius. “The site is completely geared on helping musical artists and we do not plan on ever changing that.”

You can visit Making the Artist and create an account at http://www.makingtheartist.com.

As for the release, it's not bad, but it's missing a few basic press release aspects if you plan to distribute online at all, and the language is a bit general. You shouldn't send out press releases just because you're launching a site. You need to have something really newsworthy to say (thousands of sites are launched regularly... you need to tell them why they should care about yours). My primary work is in public relations, so press releases are a pretty large part of my life. If you decide to run another one at some point, I have some free tips and templates at BizAmmo.com that you can take a look at.

Surfiro, whether $100 is a good quote or not depends on who quoted you. If it's just a copywriter, $100 might be a little bit high unless they can prove significant media coverage in the past. If you hire an actual PR professional, that's about half of the low end of the professional rate scale, and a very good price. I keep my own at $99 for the simple reason that I prefer working with independent and creative professionals (usually on tighter budgets), b/c it keeps me from going back to the politics of major nonprofit and corporate-style PR. So find out their background, and that will give you a good feel on whether the rate is appropriate.

I don't speak a good English, my English grammar is not perfect. I'm not an English speaking people, but I never hire anybody to write for me. I like to do this kind of thing myself as well as my videos. All my articles have been published and people like my videos. What I mean is that if you have time to do something yourself just do it, nobody knows what you want and the way you want to transmit your message. I just use spell check to see if everything is right. Then I read a couple of time the article to know if the meaning is ok and that's all.
You learn by doing.

Sometimes you don't have the time to spare, sometimes there's someone better for that job and you can afford to hire his/her services. Sometimes ...

I think the PR is poorly written and organized.

Keep this in mind. Those in the media will receive stacks of press releases daily. They are looking for newsworthy items, not fluff.

HOWEVER, if your goal is to simply get some Internet links out of it, this PR will probably do just fine.

If you paid about $5-$20 for this press release, you got a fair deal. If you paid more, don't do it again.

You know, you have about 3 seconds to get attention and to give your PR a chance of being picked up.

This press release starts out:

"Making the Artist is proud to announce that after months of development, the web site is now finally live."

Is that what you really want to try and sell with? You're proud of your achievement and your site is online. Great. So what?

Your second line is: The site is a new online networking tool that allows independent and/or unsigned musical artists to come together and promote their work.

That's your headline and why it's not first is beyond me. This sentence needs some cleaning up, but it should be the first thing that's read. Take the proud sentence and trash it. If you must say you're proud, for whatever reason, put it in a direct quote.
