I'm looking to make a video game related site (more specifically Nintendo Wii) and was wondering if it was worth it to still link to old news? I notice the major competitor of mine - wii.ign.com - does not link to old news. Considering I'm going to maintain the site by my own HTML, and I'm not using any big scripts or anything, it'd be convenient but would this be best?

I don't see it hurting you, but I think it would more depend on how many links we were talking about....any idea?

Hi,

If you are going to use a CMS package such as Wordpress (or one that you build yourself) that stores the content in a database, then there are advantages to keeping the old articles, since Google will index them. However, if each article is going to be in a separate file (very inefficient and something that I would advise against), then yes, it would make sense to delete the old info (files), since it would be a very messy maintenance job to maintain them.
