hey all, im wondering if anyone knows where i can come across reviewers from games, music and books? i have my site up and im in the process of building as much content as possible for a future offical launch! I currently have a film reviewer who i was very lucky to come across and he writes just for me. I know its a rare occasion that i would get someone so reliable for free but wondering if there is anywhere else you could suggest for me to try out to gather potential people? Im also writing loads myself as there is another side to the site so thats taking up my time. Also ive found when i review something its not as good haha!

Cheers

Steve

So now we know you have considered that approach maybe something more helpful can be offered!!!!!!

Really to get good answers you need to aske GOOD questions bing vague can only earn vague answers.
This is not school anymore, where the teacher will give exact answers to questions. This is the real world where there can be specifics answer but you have to ask the questions that will get you to the specifics.

Forums are like college or university, where you learn to think for yourself and discover HOW to learn things.
It's the "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him HOW to fish and he'll p***s off and leave you alone!
Have you never actually noticed what my terse answers do most of the time? And it has done so again in this case.

SO if you know (and just had it confirmed) that you need to find such places how about telling us what you HAVE done in that respect??

My two cents...
When I first started teaching criminal law, I went to the local legal guru and asked for help...

He pointed me to a stack of law books and told me "it is in there"

"If I do it for you, you will never learn how to do it for yourself"

He was right......it applies to all fields....

Education is supposed to teach you how to think...not supply you with a book of facts.....

asking questions is apart of learning and for some reason replying pointless posts to threads jacks you up! so i revert to a earlier question:

Is this the best this forum has to offer?

All these members and i get the one whos got a complex... lucky ol me

has it not occured to you that some people may be apart of various websites or write for others and may of been able to read my initial question and answer right away suggesting a place to go to...

If i knew the answer i wouldnt of asked for advice in the first place! come on now follow what im saying... not hard to grasp is it?

Stick to jacking up your post count because thats what really seems to matter to you! Hope you can bless peoples lives the same way you have blessed mine

I resind my question/post so you can do everyone a favour and save your reply in this thread for a special occasion. Wouldnt waste my time in reading it anywho

So should we take your poor grammar as the reason you need reviewers?

So lets see;

"games, music and books"
Yes very useful for us to give precise answers, the only answer to that is Amazon because you'll find every genre of Books, Music and games there.

The reason YOU can't find such people, is that YOU have no idea who or what you are looking for.

Your perceived requirements are far too broad to find satisfactory answers. Grand ideas are one thing, but you have to start realistically.
Pick a genre of games to start with, or games for a particular console. Same with books, go with specific books or authors.
For music, do similar. Take a few artists from various genres and find their fans, get them to write something.

Don't call them reviews, ask for "opinions". Appeal to peoples vanity or their ego. It's very easy to spot the right kind of people at forum, the ones who are happy to "voice" their opinions.

Once you get a few sections up and running the site will start to snowball and reach "critical mass" may take months, may take years but it will happen.
Rushing headlong at it and trying to force it to grow will only frustrate an confound you.
Creating a useful website is a marathon NOT a sprint.

One thing you should not do -- head to odesk or elance. Many of the writers on there will claim to know all about a product (when they really don't) just so they can get $1 or $2 to write about it, and it's just awful.

I've been paid to proofread/edit those types of reviews, and it is absolutely painful how bad they are.

If you are a US citizen applying for a passport, I would just put whatever you are - unless that's like "drug dealer" or "bomb maker" - they do check up on random people.
If you are applying for a foreign visa, I was just told recently that they mostly don't check things you put down, so put down whatever you put on your passport - if you aren't going for business, it shouldn't matter (again unless you are in some kind of crazy profession)
