I need to write content for many of my clients, and most often times than not i find myself needing to do some research. Most of the time I just use Google. Are there any search engines or web sites that are geared toward the time-pressed researcher? Thanks!

They all are, it's why Search Engines exist.

I meant ones that make searching easier. I hate having to open a million tabs.

Wikipedia is a good place to start. Breeze through the article and then hit up the references at the bottom. That'll give you a nice starting place.

Opening tabs or not is really up to you and how your browser is set. Nothing at all to do with the search tool you are using.

Two of the best places for finding information on a vast array of topics:

The Economist Research Tools

Journalism Links Directory > Research Tools

Open multiple pages in one window:

FireFox Addon: Open Multiple URL’s In One Window

GreenBrowser: open multiple pages in one window

I think if you want to do your research quickly, you need to maximally narrow you queries.

I mainly use Google and wiki for content searching.. reading will help you gain more knowledge that is why I don't see any problem in opening lots of tabs for it.. I also use ebsco a couple of times..

I'll go with Wikipedia. You should try to validate everything you find on there though. I have found some inaccurate information on wiki but nothing a little bit of googling couldn't straighten out.

Some people publish misinformation on purpose. Mods don't always catch it on whatever site you are using.

You can create a google custom search engine. Include all the sites you think useful in it then you will see less spams.

Writing content need lot more research. You could find everything in search engines. Sites like wikipedia offers more information on huge variety of topics. It is better to refer more and more sites before writing so that you could get a clear picture on what you write.
