By using duplicate content you may loose ranking. Specially new farmers algo is more strict about it.

All duplicate content does is make the original content mean less and make you look like a more generic writer. It's not a good look.

No doubt some sites on internet continuously reprint content of other sites which can be harmful for owner of that content as search engines are very good at identifying the origin of specific content.

Personally, I have been the CEO of my company (internet marketing & Content Creation) for 5 years now. We have never had a problem with dupe content and this so-called "punishment". Obviously you can get sandboxed. But, for other reasons than duplicate content. Directories and Article Marketing is still alive and well. The only people (so called GURUS) telling you it's bad, are the ones that are selling something. Duplicate content is not a problem in the Internet Marketing industry and if you DID get sandboxed, I would guess it was something else you did wrong.

I would appreciate if Kristi could share how duplicate content is not a problem. Where exactly does the evaluation/ aggregating/ counting (?) function take place with the search engines, etc.?
