I'll keep this short and concise--and as a newbie to the field here are some tips and tricks I've picked up.

Don't bid on something you KNOW you cant comeplete. If your at the office until 6 then get home and have to make dinner. Do you really think you can crank out 7 articles a day for the next 14? Dont think so. You'r wasting a bid on freelancer and your rating will plummet.
Quality work. If you ace your first few jobs, then your going to be selected again and again over the other starters or people who slacked off when their chosen.
Since you cant present yourself personally, your inquery post (or your bid post) is VERY important. Don't be lazy like the rest and just say something along the lines of:

"I would like to do this job."

Do something that strikes interest in the employer.
List accomplishmesnts
Show your mature and can complete tasks on a predetermined date with no exceptions

That's just a few of the obvious tips. I figure someone here doesn't know a few and feel free (please do) tack on mroe in the comments section

This was a nice read, I would just like to add:
-Present yourself as a Company, not individual
(I get a lot of PM like this:"Bro I can do this!")
-Keep it short!
(When I see messages with 50 references and bunch of BS...it's bot PM in most cases, so I never reply)

I'll add a few tips as well

IF you are going to write things in English, make your spelling is correct, because thing like this;

Quote:

and this

Quote:

WILL lose you credibility.

ALSO do not use contractions such as don't or can't and especially do NOT miss out the apostrophe

Quote:

.

Also do NOT use

Quote:

If your at the office

when you actually mean "you are" which the contraction would be you're.

Furthermore using numeric characters when you should be using the full word

is also sloppy writing and poor grammatical practice.

and of course you should proof read the piece to ensure there are no silly typographical errors and text that should have been taken out before pasting it in where it does NOT fit correctly

This is a very good post. I think it is also important to make sure you carefully follow instructions for applying for a new job.

That is the useful tip. I believe the trust to companies is higher than to individuals even when it is a one man company.

In the analogue with music world, One man bands are more popular than singers calling themselves soloists under own names.

Like who?

There are some who think the other way - companies relying on small jobs from such sites can't be that good; individuals will be hungrier and so should be employed if they can demonstrate competence.

I would also suggest that people skip over the ones that barely want to pay anything for the articles they receive. A dollar for a 500 word article? That's beyond ridiculous. Low paying jobs like that can really discourage a person overtime.

Also, create a blog for yourself. It can be a handy little one-stop for any prospective clients. A few good things to place there are examples of your work, pricing information and terms, and work availability.

Include your blog link in the cover letter when applying for jobs. It can make the process go a lot smoother for both you and the client.

Actually this is true that due to neglecting such silly thing we might going to Loose many thing or important project. So One should take proper care of this.

Actually representing yourself as larger company will come back to haunt you.

Have a business name certainly, but don't try to pretend that you are more than one person.
