What will you do if one of your readers sarcastically comment on the punctuation that you use in your blog? A good example of this is using semicolon instead of a comma.

I'd take some time to improve my grammar ;-)

That actually made me laugh.

As will had previously said, if they comment on how your grammar's incorrect, I'd take more time with each post making sure you make grammatically correct sentences. If it is grammatically correct, either inform them, or delete the comment.

Errors in written English do make visitors doubt the authority and accuracy of your content. In addition a very badly written article often resembles a badly spun piece - even worse!

Given the plethora of spellcheckers and grammar checkers available for free then there's no excuse for many errors that slip into blog posts. Nobody expects perfect English in blogs but most expect evidence of competence and checking.

Have a look at http://www.squidoo.com/common-english-errors I'll be expanding it in coming weeks - it's aimed at blog posters.

ps if you like it, give it some publicity and a link

This is the usual things when the grammar is missing. I may also be sarcastic, even despite of having puctuation troubles from time to time. Everyone should improve.

Thought I would throw in a different perspective. Often people who post on forums are non-native English speakers, so it's nice to be as tolerant as possible. I try to ask myself if I would do as well trying to post in their native language - probably not. On the other hand, if the poster is a native English speaker, there is really no excuse for sloppy punctuation, misspelling, etc. I think forums have actually improved peoples' ability to write well. I see a lot of people taking the time to write in coherent sentences just because it is easier to get your point across.

To daisies1062, if English is not your native language, be proud that you are multi-lingual, and remember that Mr/Ms Sarcastic is probably just insecure.

If it is one of YOUR readers and they bothered to contact you about the Grammer mistake, thank them for pointing it out and change it. Simple
