How reliable are Alexa traffic rankings, and are they of any significance? Are they influenced by Amazon links? Other factors? I noticed that when I removed most of the Amazon links I had on my site, my Alexa traffic rank went down dramatically. Was this just a coincidence, or is there some nepotism going on here?
I only look at Alexa and take notice if the site is in the top 10,000-15,000 or so. It is accurate for what they do which is track Alexa toolbar users and the sites they frequent. It isn't a good picture of a site's traffic at all though.
