So there seems to be a great deal of debate on other forums as to whether an affiliate landing page should be content-rich, or simply an 'offer.'

What works best for you?

I am just starting to read up on these types of pages. I can't wait to see what others have to say about them.

Same here, Atomm. I've read many, many posts here and on other forums and it seems there's a wide variety of methods.

I know that many people who are trying to drive traffic through SEO methods suggest content-rich sites. Apparently the search engines love them, and they update their sites frequently.

My personal affiliate business plan calls for a very slick landing page with just a few words and then the offer. No bells and whistles. I plan to drive traffic with pay-per-click (PPC) and other advertising methods and rely less on the organic listings. Fortunatley, I have a war chest of advertising dollars.

Anyone else?

I would say to go with a simple landing page that just advertises the affiliate. But now in adwords the landing page is going to effect your quality score and cost per click. Also Overture most of the time doesnt allow simple landing pages, with just ads and no content. But these ads are approved by actual people so sometimes they get approved, and sometimes they dont.

it all depends on what type of promotion you are going with... if you can promote multiple affiliate offers from one site that would appeal to the people why not... but also direct and simple can work also... it all depends on who you are targetting and what the product is.

I am working on a landing page for one of my sites. I am not using PPC as I already have the top 2 spots in Google for the Niche. My first step was to remove most of my own products and place 7 affiliate banners on the site.

I wanted to see how it would do. I average between 50-200 visitors per day. They are very targeted, so that can work. My CTR is between 2 and 4% after a week. I am going to let it run while I build a more customer focused site.

I have two goals. Improving the CTR/Sales Conversion and creating a double opt in mailing list of potential customers for future use.

Now, if I could only figure out how to write good copy, I would be set. :-)

Thats pretty low for targetted product for CTR... it is is really targeted you should have atleast 10% CTR if not 20-40% Now sales will be less but CTR should be high if really targeted.
