I heard that there is something called "skimming" where some big affiliate networks such as Azoogle, CPA Empire, etc. disable lead tracking for a period of time so that their affiliates loose leads. Is that true or is it just a rumor?

I think you'd have to work for either company to know for sure.

i do not see how this would benefit them as it would get us as publishers mad and then stop using them.

I'm using Azoogle and sometimes it looks like the conversion tracking isn't working. This doesn't happen very often and when it happens it's only for a few hours.

I've heard other people complain about this too so I guess it's a problem on Azoogle's end. But I don't believe they do it on purpose.

I doubt any networks have tracking outages on purpose because they only get paid when your leads or sales track. However sometimes there are tech problems just like when your web host goes down. Stuff happens.

Now on the other hand sometimes affiliates think a merchant has removed the tracking pixel so they can skim commish and don't have to pay the affiliates OR the networks. Smart merchants would never do it on purpose and realize the more money you make the more you will stay loyal and promote them.
