Oops, I didn't answer the second part of your question. CPA programs pay you for getting the user to do some action. This will vary depending on the offer you are promoting, but it could be something like purchasing a product, signing up for a free trial, or simply submitting their email address.
There are many creative ways that people make money by promoting these offers, but the two most popular seem to be:
--Advertising the offer on your own website.
--Buying paid advertisements on search engines such as Google and Yahoo to promote the offers. (The trick here is, of course, to earn more than what you spend on the ads.)
Another interesting way to promote CPA ads is incentivisation -- basically offering people something in exchange for them completing a CPA offer and earning you money. This might be something interesting for you to look into as a game developer. You could perhaps ask people to complete a CPA offer in order to download or unlock one of your games. You have to be careful in doing this because only certain offers are allowed to be incentivised. Offering incentives for offers where it's not allowed will get you kicked out of the program. It's best to always contact your CPA network to ask about each specific offer to be sure.
