I'm currently looking at CPM publishings for some of my forums and trying to see what my options are. This seemed a good place to ask.

I've read through the CPM forum and so far the following seemed particularly recommended:

Tribal Fusion
BurstMedia
Valueclick

Any further suggestions and comments would be most welcome.

If you can get in to Tribal, go that route. Otherwise I've heard good things about Casale Media.

I'll second that Tribal Fusion rocks and that Valueclick and Casale are good. I haven't used Burst.

Keep in mind that most CPM networks usually deny forum sites from running their ads. Adsense or YPN may be your best bet on a forum. Another solution is to create a forum portion and a content portion to your site and run CPM ads on the content portion only. Link users from the forum to articles on the content portion as appropriate.

What is the typical payout from a CPM provider? What variables make it vary?

Cheers,

Alero

Well, I did sign up with Burst and run the banner ads for a few days.

Overall was a pretty poor experience and cancelled the service.

The vast majority of ads were just public service ads, and the paid banner impressions only made up a very small proportion of actual served ads.

Overall revenue over 2 days was a lot small than even AdSense, which was disappointing.

Only networks that will fill all inventory are Yieldmanger networks, such as Bannerconnect and CPX Interactive. Dynamic CPM so unless you've got high click through and conversion rate the eCPM is very low (under 0.10) but at least they fill all inventory.

Where I run CPM I do ValueClick and then CPX or Bannerconnect to fill the left overs.

Unfortunatly I can't get anything accepted by TribalFusion, Casale or Burst (I was with Burst 6 years ago)
