Ok, so I have YPN and Google, but I've heard that you can alswo use CPM with both YPN AND Google? Is that true?
I need to get my revenue up quicker so i can get out of this black group. Anyone want to help me get started. Please point me in the right direction. Which are the good ones. I'm completely clueless about CPM.
Thanks!

You can combine CPM wth AdSense, as long as the CPM ads are not contextual.
Make a note of the effective CPM you are earning from AdSense/YPN.
Keep track of the effective CPM you earn from pure CPM advertising.
You will most likely want to reserve the best ad positions for the AdSense/YPN ads, but most decent CPM networks will demand that they ads be placed above the fold (at some specified resolution). Do you have that much space free above the fold?
For me, AdSense pays 6x better than the best CPM network and I don't have enough ad space left over to give to a CPM ad. Your mileage may vary.
Another option you might consider is keyword highlighting ads from Kontera or IntelliTXT. Those add a nice 10% bump to my AdSense revenue without taking up any screen real estate.

You mention that adsense outperforms your cpm ads, so you don't have space left for cpm, so my question is are you running kontera or intellitxt on the same pages as adsense? I was told it was against TOS. Surely intellitxt doesn't outperform cpm ads or does it for you? Or are you saying because of it not taking valuable inventory space, you can run it on a page without adsense and do well with it?
Sorry Matthew for hijacking. I was just curious.
I agree with Max, apply to TF, VC, and Casale. I also have Burst as second tier. I've been tempted to try a couple of others though, such as Adpepper and Gorilla Nation because they appear to target women well.

Different reps at Google have said both Yes and No to running AdSense on the same page as Kontera or IntelliTXT. It's been no problem for me.
I think that some of the Google reps just don't understand what Kontera and IntelliTXT are. They can't imagine ads that aren't block ads like Google's. It appears that Google has offshored AdSense support and paid less than the necessary attention to quality.
Kontera is giving me an eCPM of $2.55 this week. Not a lot, but better than a kick in the head.

I'm going to shoot google an email again. I tested intellitxt on my forums and it didn't do very well, but I'd like to give it a try again on article pages.

For me TF pays the best and now after some work, I've placed them first in my chain. lol I laugh because it was a longer than anticipated process for me to reorganize my chain and setup my TF defaults.
From what I've read, TF is more difficult to get into for some sites because of their unique visitors requirements varying for certain categories of publishers. Maybe someone can confirm that is factual.
I wish they all had Casale's control panel.
I am impressed with the reps from Casale and TF. I have never really met anyone specifically at VC or Burst, although both have answered quickly to any support emails I've sent.
I don't know how each would perform on your site, but I tested each on their own and setup my chain TF, Casale, VC, Burst.

smnoel, how is Burst performing for you? I'm using TF -> Casale -> VC and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to apply to Burst and add them to the chain.

I'll be honest and say I'm not entirely thrilled;however, they are last in my chain (and I've not placed them throughout my site entirely) so it's hardly fair for me to say anything too terribly negative about them. I've also not tried any other alternatives yet, but am looking at options to test and see.
Basically, I can't give a true reply to that when I don't have anything to gauge it against yet. I can only say they won't be moved upward in my chain. Well, I shouldn't even say that because who knows what the future holds.
Sorry for my long "no answer" answer. lol I'll sum it up and say Burst is a-ok for how I use them, but I'm always looking to improve. lol
I did get an email from them with this as the first sentence...
"We've noticed that your traffic has increased significantly recently, and wanted to congratulate you!"
Now tell me that isn't funny.
I guess they were excited to get my 6 impressions. rofl I'm being silly now, but I thought it was comical they sent that email. I assume it was just part of a mass email to Burst publishers, but was funny to me anyway.
On a different note and again sorry to take this thread off into another direction, but I'm in post mode now and will forget to ask this later.
I mentioned in another post of mine how I don't only keep the highest paying ads checked all of the time with any of my ad networks, (meaning I just don't micromanage daily) while it seems others do this. I understand the reasoning they do, but how many ad networks are you then chaining to cover your traffic?
With that said, my question is that with each additional default, are you not losing more impressions to the blackhole? (maybe I'm the only person experiencing inconsistencies with impressions) Also, do you check the cpc or only keep the highest cpm? Just curious.
Thanks for reading. When I drink coffee, I am not very concise, so sorry about that. :1eye:

Rambling on again are you?
Maybe you arent very good at making money online and should possibly consider something else. It seems you do a lot of complaining and not much action.

What part is complaining? Because I haven't yet tested alternatives for 4th in my chain? lol
Don't assume I don't know how to make money online.
Do I have to follow a specific path and be a certain way for you to consider me acceptable to be amongst the "earners"?
At any rate, if anyone would like to share information, I'll happily share via email.
I wasn't born yesterday and have run a successful network of sites since 1999 and I actually do earn.
People wonder why earners don't share? I didn't even submit my earnings because it's not something I feel I need to. I came here to be amongst peers and to share information and knowledge. I don't need this.

I'm chaining 4 currently. I don't micromanage and select/deselect individual campaigns. I set up a minimum cpm so that it passes on to the next network in the chain if it runs out of ads that meet or beat what the next network can do.

Interesting that you mentioned the "black hole." I've noticed it too sometimes but never been able to get a straight answer about why it happens or how to prevent it. The closest thing I've heard to an explaination has to do with users who have Javascript disabled not being correctly passed down the default chain, but I don't thaink that would account for all of the impressions I lose sometimes. Even with the black hole effect, I've found that I earn more overall by sending defaults below a certain cpm down the chain.

Yes, they're both very good CPM networks and worth trying.

Hi all,
What do you mean by chain, adding to the chain, etc? I have a few sites, nothing big, although one of them is starting to get nice traffic (1000+ unique visitros per day), yet my revenue from it is almost zero. I'm sure I can do better...
Cheers!
