Does anybody have good tips on leveraging huge community traffic in a sports related forum. I'm talking about 800000 page views a month and it's a very established community.
We are currently doing some CPM and google ads although google ads are barely getting any attention. CPMs are through valueclick.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Forum is running on vBulletin btw.

Apply for Tribal Fusion or Casale, I hear they pay better.
You could also try some CPA offers. I know MaxBounty has a few sports-related offers. Here's the non-aff link: http://www.maxbounty.com. If you are feeling kind, PM me and I'll send you my aff link.
Sign up with affiliate programs. GSI Commerce, for example, manages affiliate programs for a lot of sporting goods site, which would be suited to your niche. Check out the list at gsicommerce.com/partners/index.jsp

Only sports offers I found on maxbounty were magazine subscriptions and one Free NFL jersey email fill.
That would totally depend upon lots of factors... What's the URL? I can give you some suggestions.
Without seeing anything else, I would say that CPM banner advertising is probably the least effective way to generate revenue on a forum (though it's good, steady income).
1 really good ways is to try and dominate your own and get it highly linked in the google search engines.
other way would be to utilize the myspace bulletin and forums and get some people to view it that way. You should be trying to keep cost to a bare minimum but hopefully the good ideas in here should help you out and give youa good start.
