I've tried searching around for this problem, haven't found a solution yet.

I use pop-up windows to display internal HTML pages. When someone clicks on the link to see a sample design, they will get a pop up window of the design. Recently I've run into a problem where the CSS of this pop-up window changes my website CSS, for instance the background color of my main website changes to the color that I have my internal HTML page (the pop up window) is set to whenever someone clicks to see the sample design.

When a pop-up windows CSS is able to change the main website CSS, what is usually the problem?

Kelly I looked at your site (I assume the problem is on the site in your signature) but I'm not sure if I understand the problem completely.

I went to your ecommerce premades page and then went to one of the specific templates. On that page I clicked the button to view the design which is where I got the popup. Is that right? Is that where the problem is?

I do see the popup with a different background color, but that's because it's using a different css style sheet. I don't see anything changing on the rest of the site when I open the popup.

I guess I'm not entirely following, but I'll be happy to take another look. Could you point me to the right page if I have the wrong one and also describe the problem a little more?

Thanks for replying.

I had to disable the pop-up script I was using, until I could figure it out. I am using Lightwindow from StickManLabs.com

Since I've disabled the script, for now, when the sample designs are clicked it just pops or loads as a regular page and not the pop-up page like I had it. I had to disable it because when the sample design was clicked on, it completely screwed my regular site up plus didn't show the sample design correctly.

I've tried another pop-up window script but it was doing the same thing, so that is why I think it isn't the script itself but something else I've done, either to the CSS or something I've done to the PHP files. I also reinstalled the script I was using, still did the same thing.

I'm currently redesigning my site (in the middle, so it is a bit messy.) So will most likely be taking out the pop-up window samples because, I just hate pop-ups so am looking into other ways to show the sample designs. But it will be at least a month or more before I get to that particular redesigning, so thought in the meantime I'd see what could be done about the pop-up problem I was having.

Makes sense why I didn't see it then. It might be something more than the popup if you're seeing this from two different scripts.

If you want you can create a copy of one of your pages and place it on your server not connected to anything else on the site and add the Lightwindow script to it.

Then post the link to the URL and I'll take a look and see if I notice anything. I think if you keep the new page completely disconnected from the rest of the site it should affect the site. You'll probably need to make copies of any php files you include and your css file, etc.

Well, the more I think about it the more I hate the pop-ups and the straight HTML for the designs, easy to copy, I might as well give them away for free if I keep doing it this way. I think I'll just get rid of all the pop-ups for the samples and use images or some other means of showing the sample designs. I'll figure something out, lol

Thanks for the help and your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny. You could always use a less fancy popup. The simple window.open works well.

The thing I liked about the Lightwindow script was that if you right clicked to view source or went to the menu to view source, you would only see the source from my website and not the sample design. There was ways around that, but the average person would have given up viewing my source code for the designs and moved on.
