Just wondering what units people use, I have looked through a number of books recently which all use different units of measurements.

I have found that em works the best for me. Seems to be way more consistent across browsers than px.

I use relative font-sizes: from xx-small to xx-large. That way they resize with different screen resolutions. Sometimes I use em or px, depending on the application. For most pages today those are the only ones you should worry with.

I'd recommand you to use em as a unit.

EM are proportional (based on a 16pt serif font, I believe) , and not PX.
If a user with sight disabilities have a custom settings saying "big font" in IE, a css font of 12px stays at 12px, but the .8em grows to 80% of the zoomed font.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Em_%28typography%29

It's all about being the most accessible possible.

Dan Cederholm said on the Boagworld podcast:
" I mean, like a lot of things in web design, there's not... yeah, it sort of just depends on a case-by-case. I mean, people fall into sort of things that work for them, you know, like I use the "keyword/percentage" thing and that just seems to work. Other people like the em-based approach to text sizing. But neither one is really right. I think you're correct in saying there is no real right answer at this point. It will be interesting to see how CSS evolves and affects the way we layout pages. "

Percentages. They're like ems, only much more precise.

I tried it the way serandfae suggested, but found that IE and FF (among others) saw it differently, whereas they see percentages more or less the same.

By the way, joder, nice spastic crackhead avatar. My compliments to the artiste.
