Only a masochist would try and recreate tables using CSS.

Do you mean create a CSS layout using the table one as a template?

Yea I just want my page to end up looking close to that.

I don't know anything about CSS and i'm trying my best not to have to read a book on it.

Can you show me where to start?

Why ? You never learn anything by being lazy, and a book is one of the best ways to learn and you can always refer back to it.

You can style tables with CSS to a point, but recreating tables with CSS is ridiculous - I agree wholeheartedly with Chris.

I agree w/ LadynRed.

You could buy a program to try and help you with CSS but then when all the convoluted CSS code doesn't work right you'll be asking others for help and have <div>'s and wrong elements and attributes everywhere. If learning to program for the web is important to you, you will have to read. Better to invest in a good book that takes you through all the in's and out's. Then you will be ready for a good web reference.

I don't mean I'm not willing to do any studying I just don't want to do more then It takes for this page. I have been adding in the codes I found here http://www.barelyfitz.com/screencast/html-...ss/positioning/ but they don't seem to be doing what I want them to or anything at all for that matter.

I know this is the part where someone gets tempted to post a link to http://www.d.umn.edu/itss/support/Tr...esign/css.html
or
http://www.w3schools.com/

or something like that but I'm not looking for the whole manual just the chapter its in.

Would you mind taking a look at my code and giving me a kick in the right direction? I'm trying to make the images line up in two rows down the page.. or even move at all just so I can see how its works.

http://www.drysnot.com/style.css
http://www.drysnot.com/index1.html

If you could give me the name of what it is i'm trying to do that would be a great start for me google should be able to help me from there.

Thank you guys so much for helping me out and being so nice!

One of my many "to be finished sometime soon" DHTML bits is at

http://www.candsdesign.co.uk/article...change-border/

it should get you started on how to line up several buttons.

you can see how to use float, clear and the document flow to align elements. There is no positioning used and no "hacks", just margins and a bit of padding.
