Is there an easy way to acheive a 3 column liquid layout where only the middle column would actually change size?

lets say I use:

div#container
div#left
div#middle
div#right

If I set left and right to a width of 150px, but then I want the middle one the take up the remaining room in the middle; how would I do that??

Should I just set the width of div#middle to auto?

Something I did a long time ago now so the CSS maybe a bit in need of tidying;
