Looks good in IE, but not Firefox! Help...

It was recently brought to my attention that my home page is a mess, when viewed in Firefox. However, it looks fine in IE6 and IE7.

http://www.preciouseffects.com

In particular, the horizontal menu is out of place. The site is a simple two-column arrangement.
Also, the right column for some reason clears below the left column, but the left and right columns should sit next to each other.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ken

I'd say, after experiment with firebug:

The menu:
1) your UL is floated, but not cleared
2) The list have a top + bottom margin of 13px (don't know where it comes from). Specifying margin: 0; in the #navlist class resolved the display issue on my firefox

The content:
1) Again, no clear after the floats
2) As you use Div's, I believe that as they are block style display, you need to specify the width, or they will take 100% of the container space. I had to set it to 450px to have a good look

But seriously....
"Professional website design" !?
You should know better than that then.

As I played with firebug, it altered the document "live", and did not checked it on IE.

Regarding your very last comment: It may sound a little foolish to be asking for help on my "professional" website, but everybody has to start somewhere in this business. I don`t expect to win any customers with a slogan like `Lousy website design`.

It seems this is always a learning game. As soon as you learn how to make a website with tables, they tell you to use DIVs instead. Then they tell you that the pages are not W3C valid, so you fix your 135 page errors. Then they tell you that it doesn`t work in IE6, so you apply the necessary hacks. I`ve put together a small collection of websites over the last 5 years, and it is a steep learning curve. I am determined to perfect it eventually, but practice and experience is my only way.

If you're determined to perfect it, then the first thing you have to do is stop designing so it looks good in IE first - you'll go bald tearing your hair out fixing it's many, many bugs ! Code and test until it's what you want in Firefox (or Opera) FIRST, then go back and kick IE into submission where you need to.
