whereas, there are divs that have set width and height and can line up in rows. Then I want an image inside with text underneath.
I can't get the divs to line up in rows. They all return a line and are stacked one on top of each other.

Can someone be kind enough to point out some code?

Actually, they look good in Firefox, and in IE 6, so what browser are you seeing this ugliness in ?

Putting a display:table property on a table cell is pointless - and IE does NOT recognize it anyway.

There's really no reason for any of that to be in a table anyway -- not even the tiles.

so how would I code the divs?

how do I set a margin padding on right and bottom so all the boxes line up in rows and columns. Like Tile.
