Tables or splitting a div?

My main box on my website is a DIV, is it advisable to use a table within this if i want to split the box up, like for a contact form or text/images i want spaced out?

It seems the simplest way as when i try to add divs, i cant seem to get 2 of them side by side, Like a table with 1 row and 2 columns,

Any ideas?

Look at the Layouts and CSS Resource Lists sections for tutorials and ideas.
