When I try and validate my website I get error for all my DIV tags as follows..

Line 61, Column 14:
an attribute value specification must be an attribute value literal unless SHORTTAG YES is specified.
<body><div id=container>

What does this mean?

Cheers

Paul

You need quotes around your id- <div id="container">

Unless it doesn't work currently, then use quotations, otherwise it doesn't really matter as your server allows short tags , but it is always best to have it probably validated

It DOES matter, and you shouldn't encourage sloppy coding.

What i meant was that it makes no change to the output if the server allows it, but like i said, its better to have it validated properly

I spent a bit of time the other night, going between the W3, Dreamweaver, and my FTP program. Check for validation, tweak, upload, recheck, tweak some more... a vicious cycle I have one whole site that passed both XHTML and CSS. The CSS had errors, but passed, so I'm still happy.
