Has anyone had any problems with z-index being ignored by IE7? Crap... I've been working for two days on some mouse over popups (with the help from suckerfish and cssplay) and just when I think I nailed it. IE7 ignores my z-index.

If you look at this link, The pop up image works how I planned in Firefox, but IE7 ... Sigh!

Any suggestions?

I vaguely remember something about changing the color as well as the z-index fixed the problem with the css image rollovers using z-index. You know like change it one single rgb value which wouldn't even be noticable. Heck I can barely notice changing it by 20. lol

Maybe this will fix your problem.

EDIT: oops sorry for some reason I thought you were talking about image rollovers. Well I guess this is something similar though. Maybe it'll still work. *shrugs*

If you have a relative-absolute popups, try putting a z-index on relatively positioned elements rather than absolute ones, it works.

It makes no difference, z-index ONLY works on relative and absolutely positioned elements.

Syd, the problem could stem from the fact that you're re-using ID's and they have to be unique.

Well... there were several issues. Sorry I guess after working nearly 16 hours on the menu I began to panic!

Once I validated and used position: absolute; the issue was bye bye.
Geeze Lady... How'd you get so smart?

Thanks for the feedback.

I've been doing this stuff for 12 years - 12 years of lots of studying, lots of trial and error until I found the answers

Glad you got it working
