I use 1680 X 1050 at work, which I'm using right now. The page http://www.jessweiss.com/tt/index1.html looks fine except for the login button is sitting underneath the user: and on a horizontal line. I'm not sure what your looking for?

My monitor at home is 1680x1050, but still would advise to not go much bigger than 1024x768. It also depends on your target audience. If you know your audience will be pretty tech-minded then you might be able to get away with like 1280x1024 or something.
