Is there really anyway to make the height of a div act the same way as the height of 100% on a table?

Meaning that it extends as more and more content is added?

I tried adding a div around all of my content to have a nice border, but it isn't really working.

www.bldhosting.net is what it looks like with a table around my work

while http://70.52.141.23 is what it looks like with a div around it.

Also, could you assist me in getting the bottom bit, with the giberish ( dgjdkggdf g df g d gf) not stuck in the left? I'm trying to make this my footer, however it isn't really working.

Well, for one thing you need to validate your code, you have TWO <body> tags in there. You also have some invalidly nested <spans> and <divs>.

Why is #floatlayer set to position:absolute ? It's sitting outside the layout.
Your div is not 'wrapping' your content because you need to CLEAR your floats.

This is an invalid name for a div - #10text - an ID can not begin with a number.

Set .bodyline to position:relative.
Look in the stickies for how to make a div stretch the full height, just putting height: 100% of the div won't work.

Start with that.. then see where you wind up

I'm using php to call my header body and footers together, so that my explain why it have 2 body tags. I might've just forgotten I added it, and have done it twice. I'll definatley fix that up thanks for that!

The floatlayer is actually for my livechat software. If you would go on the website, I could show you how it works. None the less, it for an "auto-invite" script, and it is automatically generated. I will be keeping this!

what is meant when you say I need to clear my floats? Two questions for you:
a) what could this do?
b) how would I apply it?

Lastly, I fixed that footer problem . Thanks for the response!

Edit:
The footer, doesn't want to follow the document flow, and overlaps my text. Why?

Most likely is due to the uncleared floats.

Okay, I seem to have gotten it to work. NO TABLES WHATSOEVER! http://70.52.141.23 is the website.

however, while everything is working okay http://70.52.141.23/sub-domains.php looks rather bad, because the body is so short.

Is there anyway to make the the footer extend to the bottom of the screen (no matter the size of the content), while also not interfering with already existing content.

To clear things up, I want the footer on http://70.52.141.23/sub-domains.php to extend to the bottom of the page, while also dragging the borders and such, but to not interfere with http://70.52.141.23 where the content extends to more than the full page.

YAY for no tables

I'll never understand this obsession with forcing a page to fill the browser window, but I realize lots of people just have to have it that way. I don't happen to think it looks 'bad' at all, but that's me.

What you're asking could be really tricky to accomplish. You might want to try a min-height approach. IE6 doesn't support that, so you'll have to define a height for it.
