Hello everyone. I wonder if someone might be able to help me with my vertical scaling problem... I have a sidebar that doesn't start at the top but I want it to stretch down to the bottom. I have tried adding height:100% to the sidebar div and all its parent divs but it still won't stretch down to the footer along with the content alongside it.
you can see an example of the problem here:
http://www.lebusishu.com/en/design/this-is-going-to-be-a-long-post/
and the CSS is here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had the exact same problem, faux columns fixed it for me, http://www.alistapart.com/articles/fauxcolumns/

Thanks. I could implement that solution but it would mean creating a huuuuge background image which is kind of integral to the design.

I looked at your design and I have to disagree, you wouldn't need a huuuuuuuuuge bg image at all.

One reason your height: 100% may not have worked is because the .contentarea div is NOT 'wrapping' anything inside it. This is the hallmark of NOT CLEARING your floats.
