Hi!
Does anyone know of a program that can convert a standards compliant HTML+CSS page into one that is compatible with all (or at least some) of the major browsers(IE6/7, Firefox 2/3, Safari, Opera)?

I know Dreamweaver CS3 can check whether a page is compatible with a browser or not, but is there a tool that can automatically convert a page?

I have a program installed inside of my brain that does this task for me. It is called practice, experience, and a willingness to learn. You will never find anything that is automated that works better than what I use.

Yeah, I've one too. It's a pain to use and wastes a lot of processing cycles

If a page is already standards compliant, it should work with most browsers already - with the exception of a few annoyances in IE6 & maybe 7.

and firefox 2, if I'm not mistaken
That's the problem: most people STILL have non-standards compliant browsers

P.S. What's wrong with tables? I find them quite well suited for presenting information in a tabular format, but apparently some designers go totally "table-less" even if the information they have needs to be presented in a table. Plus the CSS2 standard defines tabular behaviour in divs, which is rather puzzling...

Firefox 2 was far and away more standards compliant than any IE generation.

Meaning most people are still using IE - welcome to the real world of building web sites. You learn what IE's bugs and shortcomings are then you code to avoid them as much as possible and when you can't you learn how to kill the bugs with specific rules and conditional comments.

Tables were never meant for layout, they were meant for data and that's what they should be used for.
