Hi all,

Is using HTC files considered a CSS hack to get it to work in IE? I've been following this tutorial on creating CSS menus (http://www.tanfa.co.uk/css/examples/...rial-h.asp#hs7), and it uses an HTC file for the :hover behaviour.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Nelson

No, it's not a hack, it's just javascript to force IE6 and below to do something it cannot do on it's own.

Just be aware that the script must finish running before it is displayed. It is not nearly as fast as CSS, and isn't cached (as far as I know). I do sometimes employ them (such as the one for .png transparency), but always look for CSS solutions first.

I've never had any problem when I've used the hover behavior htc. The PNG one does show a flash of gray before it works, but on a fast connection, you rarely even notice it.
