In IE, the middle content floats do not clear properly.

What version of IE are you using? IN IE7... it looks the same as Firefox

IE 8, the black content bg doesn't extend with the floated divs

IE8's in BETA, it's not ready for use, and it's a long way from it's full standards compliance that it's supposed to have when it's finally released. When it IS released, it should render the same as Firefox.

You've got a lot of validation errors and a lot of deprecated html that does not belong in an XHTML document.
