I am trying to get a site running buddypress going, but it is still underdevelopment and has some major errors at the moment. The only one keeping me back from launching is that in IE7 the admin navbar is broken.

You can see the dropdown but you can not select any of the items because as soon as your try to hover over a item the dropdown disappears. Here is the code if anyone can help out.

I had that problem before. It's usually a function of the time out on hover or the child menu items either being displayed too close or too far away from the parent. Since you're already using jQuery, you'd probably do well to check out the Superfish menu, as it addresses both of these. You can see a dropline variant of it in action at http://forrestcroce.com.

Thanks for the tip serandfae, I have tried implementing the superfish menu with a few different code examples but none of them appear to solve the problem with the menu.

It's not difficult to set up a superfish menu, but unfortunately working with buddypress severely limits what I can change. From what I have researched so far, there is almost no way to have a working dropdown menu in IE without javascript anyways though.

I should note this problem is not mine alone. In fact it has not been resolved for any buddypress release so far.

I am unfortunately not an expert with CSS. I can use menus, but not debug them...

However, it that can help, I can confirm that it works perfectly well with Google Chrome...

Can't say I've had any experience with buddypress. I will say that I had the problem of the child menu items disappearing just like yours are. I decreased the spacing on the child <li>s and increased the time out in the superfish.js and that did the trick. JQuery also offers a support forum if that helps.
