Hello everyone its my first post hope it will be useful

its a book name " Everything you know about CSS is wrong " , The book illustrates how, now that IE has passed the ACID 2 test, we can finally begin to build our websites the proper ways. Up until now, we've been forced to implement hacks to form the perfect layout - absolute positioning, precarious floats, etc.

Not here we haven't.

So, at first everyone used HTML tables to create their websites. Then this CSS trend caught up - and everyone saw the cons of tables. Now you're saying we go back to 2000, and start using tables again - except THIS TIME we use CSS tables.

Considering that it's likely to be quite some time yet before we can forget about coding for browsers older than IE8, you can't go with this 'new' method reliably at all. I don't think I'll be going back to tables for layout, even if they are 'css' tables.

I want to know how a guy with one post has two links in his post and a sig with a link. Isn't there a waiting period?

Having dealt with tables on tables on tables until I said enough is enough and learned the basics of CSS, I am not going to fall off the wagon.

What's the purpose of tables when you want to use css and divs?

Now a more constructive comment about your post.

If CSS tables were the way to design sites this would be the trend for truly compliant browsers even now (IE hacks or not). This has not been been the case. Even now people shy away from using tables a site design method. I think you'll find tables tend to be very restrictive as a content holding method.

Actually won't this just add one more conditional statement? I don't think you can code for the future. I'll admit, I am cranky about having to code for those people who won't dish out $350 for a basic internet ready computer or won't install the latest Firefox for free(despite my pushing them to!), but it is a reality.

I am not ready to start including a splash screen that reads "if you are using IE8 and prefer css table layouts click here, IE7 css div users click here, below IE6 users please go to a friend's house, and so on..."

Tables are great when they are used for what they are intended for: data. I am a loud voice and advocate for not using tables for layout, and am sometimes misunderstood to mean tables should never be used at all. I often use them to organize data on a page, since they are perfect for that.

I read that article a couple of months ago. I can understand the logic of it - to a point. I'm just not going to knock myself out going back there until decrepit browsers like IE 6 and below, and IE7 too, regrettably, are not used any more by so many people. It's going to take YEARS - unless MS decides to automatically UNinstall all other IE browsers when IE8 gets installed. IMO - -that might not be such a horrible thing for a LOT of people !

Honestly, IE8 haven't really made website desining much easier. Microsoft might have corrected a lot of problems and mistakes, but there are still so many problems with IE8 that I wouldn't even recommend using it.

IE8 is still in BETA !!! It's a bit premature to trash it before it's a final release product. It WILL be standards compliant and for the first time a version of IE passed the Acid2 test. It WILL be better -- just wait.

Maybe it only happens when IE is the default but the older version has been removed from my system with each new install since about IE5. Makes it hard to see what others see since I can't go back.
