I'm pretty much a beginner, so bear with me...

I have a pretty specific page layout I'm interested in using for my web site, but it would require two navigation frames, one left and one right, with a content frame in the middle.

Are there any basic problems with this setup?

No basic problems that I can think of. You will want to use div's and css to control this layout.
