From my perspective anyways it looked like IE7 was the start of the end of non-standard compliant browsers by MS. I just went on browsershots.com and took some shots of my site using IE5,6,7,8. Out of all of them it looked the worst in 8. Have you guys heard of any news on IE 8. Are we in for trouble?

The biggest problem I see is that IE8 is in RC1 status (most MS software goes mainstream at RC2 or RC3) and it really doesn't seem anywhere near for release status at all by anybody's standards other than MS. I do admit I have only had it on a "labrat" machine 'cos I'm on an "ancient" OS, 2k Pro probably the most stable OS ever produced by MS and can't even have IE7 (not that I would want to ).

No doubt it will be a usual MS release, push it out, let the paying customers debug it!!
You wouldn't think I was a paid up member of the "MS Partner Program" and I am supposed to be championing all MS Products now would you.

It might be because its still in beta. Even though it's released, I know they still have a lot of work to do on it. What I got out of it is that their goal is to make it more compliant, and have IE be more compatible than any other previous versions, opposed to the outcome their getting now.
