Hi people!
I need some CSS software. I had one good programme but I don't remember the name.
I need to create css styles separate from Dreamweaver and also need preview in that programme.

Can you recommend me some?

Thanks!

I always do code and markup editing in a program called pspad (www.pspad.com) it's free. A lot of people use notepad++ and there are many other alternatives.

Give Adobe Dreamweaver a go. It generates most of the CSS for you. However like all code generators, it needs a programmers eye to go over it before you release the code (it's a bit buggy, and looks fulgy).

If you are on a Mac, TextWrangler is a wonderful application. It's free.

I must admit that I cheat when generating CSS: I use my brain.

topstyle lite is free

scroll down the page to where it says lite version

or try the pro version if you're looking for a paid-for solution

there's also stylemaster http://www.westciv.com/style_master/

yes but the OP wants to preview in the same program so notepad++ though a good program isn't going to meet that need.

also topstyle/stylemaster are specifically designed for css production

TopStyle will NOT generate CSS, you have to do that using your own brain cells. I use TopStyle Pro, it's a great piece of software, but it is NOT a WYSIWYG program at all - YOU have to write the code. It does have some nice, helpful features to help you with that.

while topstyle may not generate css it will autocomplete/help you out as long as you have some idea of what you are doing and i only said it had preview - as the op requested - NOT WYSIWYG

Yes, it has an autocomplete feature, but if you know nothing about CSS, that isn't all that helpful. In order to select a property, you have to know what it is first.

TopStyle's preview is aging. The internal preview for IE is IE5.5, and the Mozilla extension, which you must install, is a fairly old Gecko engine. I use it, but it's not up to date for Firefox3 and other more recent browsers using the Gecko engine. Version 4 is in Beta, hopefully to be released in a few months.

hand coding is the best way to create something beautifull, and remember that who create the programme is a human too.

It seems like the thing that you are looking for is Editplus. It can edit just about anything, has syntax detection for all the leading codes (HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, C++, etc.), and it has a 'built-in' browser (which is really IE), so you can preview the website within the program. Highly recommended.

I use a program called Stylizer to do my CSS styling.

You still have to know a little CSS, but it can drastically improve your work flow.
