can someone please take a look at my site and tell me what i'm doing wrong. i'm trying to position my navigation dropdown menu right under my slideshow. there's always a gap to the left that i can't get it to go away. i tried doing a fix position with the top and left pixel number, but that doesn't work because on smaller monitors it's not in the same position.

Your first problem is all that awful absolute positioning. You don't need it and IE WILL choke on it.

For the div with the menu in it, you need left: 235px, then
For the first menu item, set your left property to left:-50px

adjust the rest as needed.
