Some suggestions that may or may not help....
1. You could try some kind of clearing element before the footer (<div style="clear:both:"></div>).
2. You could try adding padding to the bottom of the page content div and raising the z-index of the footer so that it sits below
3. You could try adding padding to the bottom of the page body / html - then position the div absolutely... or something like that.
Can you post some of the html / css you're using?
